About the Movie
Two-time Best Feature Film winner at six festivals, KENSHO is a visionary, existential drama and the extraordinary directorial debut of actor / director Brad Raider. The truly independent, micro-budget film is at the heart of the conscious-cinema movement and follows playwright turned doorman of The Bedfellow Hotel, Dan Bender (Raider), as he's reeling from the death of his little sister. In a sex-and-drug filled odyssey through the inner-connected, cultural phenomenon that is New York City, his desperate search for fulfillment reunites him with childhood love, Kate Darrow (Kaley Ronayne in a star-making performance), and ultimately, catalyzes a consciousness-expanding journey of hope and self-discovery. KENSHO is an inspiring and intensely personal work that illuminates profound and universal questions about the nature of fulfillment, relationships, social conscience, sex, death, life purpose, and the role that self-reflection plays on the global stage.
Kensho at the Bedfellow
A truly unique film that's part comedy, part drama, part modern inner journey. Great music!
I was lucky enough to see Kensho on the big screen where it won Best Feature Film at the festival I attended. I was absolutely amazed. Kensho is the kind of film that you rarely see these days — an engaging story that’s both entertaining and thought-provoking. It's subversively funny, emotionally resonant, and inspiring in its low-budget wizardry.
The acting is also superb. Raider and Ronayne lead a cast of accomplished, theatre-trained actors that disappear into characters that are both relatable and fascinating to watch. The cinematography is gorgeous and highlights Manhattan in a mesmerizing, Koyaanisqatsi-like way.
The choices Raider and his team made from production design to special effects to soundtrack complement a thrilling and beautiful story of hope and innerconnectivity.
I was totally lifted to a new place watching Kensho. The film gets my highest recommendation.
Edgy, Sexy, Spiritual
Was never once taken out of the film. It's compelling from start to finish, and full of surprises. Highly reccommended for anyone looking for a slickly-produced, well-acted flick about the journey that one must take in order to find peace within.
