About the Movie
Many people believe the scariest urban legends are just modern day folklore; campfire tales of axe-wielding boogeymen, haunted mental institutions and witches in the woods – the storylines of our favorite horror movies, but often beneath the surface of these harrowing myths lies a horrific truth that’s scarier than any fiction. Through a chilling blend of investigative journalism, and what folklorists call Legendtripping, filmmakers Joshua Zeman and Rachel Mills embark on a dark journey as they investigate four of our most terrifying urban legends and the real-life crimes that may have inspired them. Peeling back the layers of storytelling, from interviews with shocked detectives to traumatized victims, our filmmakers discover a truth more horrifying than they had ever imagined. Unraveling the mystery behind a legacy that refuses to die, this is an attempt to understand not just what we all fear, but more importantly… why we continue to believe. From the director of CROPSEY.
How do you give negative stars?
So my wife refused to watch Blackfish with me because I couldn't stop raving about how good it was. So instead we settled on this documentary as a compromise. About 20 minutes into it, we were negotiating with each other how we could still salvage our night and extract ourselves from this audiovisual train wreck. Let me see if I can describe briefly: awful. Reminds me of scripted "reality" television. During every interview, about 40% of the time the camera is on the interviewee and 60% of the time, the camera is on the two creators making idiotic dumbfounded faces. They went to graveyards to show...the tombstones of the dead killer? They showed up at people's homes decades later to...tell them a guy killed his kid in that home? They traipsed through the woods for- f- I don't know. I'm surprised they didn't film themselves tasting different pixy stix at the pixy stix factory during the candyman sequence. Or taking a babysitting class during the when a stranger calls sequence. It really is nonsense driven.
I mean, I really don't write reviews. But I felt I had to warn other people before they spent money to rent or buy this piece of crap.
America's Most Haunted
KILLER LEGENDS is a must-see for anyone who loves a good scare. More frightening than the legends they cover is the truth behind the stories. Forget what you think you know and get ready for a shock! Zeman and Mills go deep into the source, the birth of the creepiest stories from our childhood. The research is top-notch, the history thorough, and the stories presented in a way that will keep you up at night and make you question everything. Well done! I want more!
totally stupid fake-umentary that is all conjecture & ‘scary sound’….lesson learned
