Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: It's not worthless, but it's not good. As a genre film, it's too ambitious; as an art film, it's too obvious.
Rotten: The sight of Robert De Niro and John Travolta sharing the screen for the first time reps the one and only selling point of Killing Season.
Rotten: The pretentious, preposterous, dueling-dialect flameout called "Killing Season" has to stand as one of the biggest missed opportunities in iconic matchups.
Rotten: A drawn out cat-and-mouse game never catches fire.
Next time you two guys need some money just ask. Please don't do this again!!!! Here's a tip, get a banjo and a shoe box and put yourself on the street corner then the cash will flow buddy!
The plot is awful, decent acting by DeNiro and Travolta but a sub par plot and bad directing make this one to skip.
As far as direct to video movies go, this is definately worth watching. A few things were sub par or annoying (like Travolta's accent- we know him too well to believe it more than analyze it everytime he speaks) and it's not either of these guy's best work, but I'll watch (and enjoy) almost anything with De Niro in it.
