THIS IS WHAT A SEQUEL SHOULD BE!

When I saw "Kung Fu Panda" for the first time in 2008, I honestly didn't know what to expect. I wasn't sure if it was gonna be filled with irreverent humor and pop culture references like just about every other film from Dreamworks Animation or if it was gonna mix in family-friendly humor with strong emotional storytelling and action-packed adventure. Thankfully, my latter assumption was right on the dot. The movie turned out to be one of the most surprisingly awesome cinematic sensations of that summer. So because of its major critical and commercial success, it was only inevitable that Dreamworks would get right to work on a sequel. Was is it possible that they could recapture or even improve upon the captivating storyline and visual beauty of the original that made it such a hit? Indeed, they could. Right from the very beginning of the movie, I was blown away by the unique puppet-style animation chronicling the backstory of the movie's main villain, Lord Shen. From that point on, there wasn't a single moment that didn't have my full attention. The stakes were higher, the battles were much more intense, and, most surprising of all, Po's secret origin was finally revealed. I have to be honest right now. I couldn't help but tear up during the sequence in which he fully recounted his dramatically somber backstory. It was so heartbreaking, yet it made a lot of sense at the same time. From the emotional plot twists to the fantastic character development to the witty banter between Jack Black and the rest of the main voice cast, I absolutely loved everything "Kung Fu Panda 2" had to offer. Not only did it vastly improve upon its predecessor, but it even left off on a thrilling cliffhanger, so I suppose we can already assume that a third film is in the works as we speak. All in all, it's a visually stunning and extremely well told animated adventure that masterfully blends action, comedy, and drama into one cohesive tale. Don't even hesitate to buy or rent it. If you've seen the first flick, there's no doubting that you'll love this one even more!

Wow

It has every component a good movie should have.
good plot.
kid friendly.
fantastic acting.
very funny.

awesomeness has returned.

This is one of those rare occasions when the second is better than the first!

Hey, Dreamworks, great job! But DO NOT make Po and Tigress fall in love.... That would be the worst mistake ever!
