About the Movie

This influential cult film, set in 19th century Japan, tells the story of Yuki, a young woman seeking bloody vengeance on the men who raped her mother and murdered her family. Adapted from a manga by the writer Kazuo Koike, Lady Snowblood remains a beloved sword-slashing heroine, and her story heavily informed Quentin Tarantino's own revenge saga, Kill Bill.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Lady Snowblood only half-heartedly revels in its heroine's bloody revenge, while focusing just as much on the tragedy of her circumstances and the absurdity of her vengeful fate. – Anton Bitel, Little White Lies, Sep 25, 2012

Japanese Revenge Film

Lady Snowblood is born into a vendetta and does not rest until it is done. The fight scenes are quick with lots of blood spurting. It has many interesting camera angles and beautiful scenery, but most of the acting is that 70’s, over the top style.

Horrible even by 70's cheese standards

I get the over the top acting etc. I even get the blood spurting thing but it got old quickly in conjunction with the dribbling water effect that accompanied it. Otherwise, the fight choreography was terrible, the story line unremarkable still, even by "70's" standards...There should be a negative rating scale to accommodate movies this bad.
