Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: In the department of numbing ineptitude, the pacing runs a neck-and-neck race with the dialogue.
Rotten: There is more tension in Jolie's T-shirts than in the dramatic action.
Rotten: So pandering and pebble-brained you'd guess it had been test-screened on barnyard animals.
Rotten: The herald of a cold, heartless, soul-dead cinema for a numbed audience with no interest in human emotion, just a craving to have its synapses jolted.
Angelina Jolie is the Ultimate Hero...
Angelina Jolie delivers as the world's ultimate hero, Lara Croft. Lara, the beautiful, but fearless spy/aristocrat is stylish yet powerful, and excellence seems to stand out in her every move. The special effects are quite good, including an awesome fighting scene in Lara's home towards the beginning of the film, and the cinematography is stunning and eerie, and it should have been nominated for an Oscar for Best Cinematography in 2001. The music is perfect for the film, conveying the mysteries of the jungle, the essence of a starry night, and the most action packed moments in the film. The sets are extravagant, as are the costumes. All of the actors are brilliant, but Jolie shines brighter than most. Noah Taylor makes an excellent assistant to Lara Croft, playing the character of Bryce, and the two make a fine pair. Comedy, drama, action, and thriller can each describe different pieces of this brilliant film, and when all of these elements can be combined, one ought to know how stunning the film will be. Definitley worth the buy, and definitley worth an hour and a half of your time. This is one that I will watch over and over again without tiring of it. Simply amazing...
A non-stop action movie that is exciting from beginning to end. Plus, Angelina is just an amazing actress (who does all her own stunts!)!!!! Heck yah!!
Lara Croft is SMOKIN!!!!
