Fresh: [it] is pure genre, but that is not to say that its genre is pure, given how deftly it ambiguates itself between being a story of ghostly vengeance and a tale of psychological breakdown, while leaving the disoriented viewer to call the difference.
Fresh: a knowing and assured spin on established genre materials: an Assault on Precinct 13 by ghosts from a traumatic, Manson-esque past.
Decent film with an amazing lead actress
I am giving this movie an extra star for the lead actress’ performance alone; she sold this entire film, and it wouldn’t have been any good without her. The story was pretty decently realized, with some “Jacob’s Ladder”-like inspirations that were well implemented, but it wasn’t very scary. The jump scares were not effective, and while the visuals were certainly creepy and disturbing, they weren’t horrifying in the slightest. Watch it for Juliana Harkavy’ s performance. She deserves to be a superstar.
Good movie bad ending
I was really enjoying this film. Very creepy and a bit surreal, but the writers ruined it with a moronic last scene. It's a real pity as I would have liked it otherwise.
I'm a huge horror fanatic so they're really aren't many horror films in here I haven't seen but I kept passing by this one and think, eh..maybe when it's on Netflix. So it's on Netflix and I watched it and I have to say that there are many genuinely frightening scenes in this and I haven't seen anything that actually had real scares in a good while. Simply put, the main actress is really good, it's definitely scary and it holds your attention throughout. Well worth the rental and/or purchase price. Check this one out.
