About the Movie
One of the screen's grandest epics, this monumental story recounts the true-life experiences of T.E. Lawrence, better known to the world as Lawrence of Arabia. A young, idealistic British officer in WWI, Lawrence (Peter O'Toole) is assigned to the camp of Prince Feisal (Alec Guinness), an Arab tribal chieftain and leader in a revolt against the Turks. In a series of brilliant tactical maneuvers, Lawrence leads fifty of Feisal's men in a tortured three-week crossing of the Nefud Desert to attack the strategic Turkish-held port of Aqaba. And following his successful raids against Turkish troops and trains, Lawrence's triumphant leadership and unyielding courage gain him nearly god-like status among his Arab brothers.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: This is a movie with the excitement of a cavalry charge.
Fresh: Still astonishes.
Fresh: Deathless, and looking as good as new.
Fresh: You'll need to dedicate half a day to it - but this deserves to be seen again on the big screen.
Big things have small beginnings
Stunning cinematography, epic musical score, an intelligent near flawless script, ambitious scope, and a legendary perfomance by Peter O'Toole combine to create one of the greatest achievements in cinematic history.
It Missed the Love Story
Granted. It was 1960. But this version of Lawrence of Arabia missed the tragic love story angle. One of the main reasons for Lawrence fighting the Turks so fervently and feverishly was that his significant other was on the WW I side against the Turks. Lawrence left for 3 years to fight the Turks only to return to his lover with news of victory only to find that in his absence his lover had died. Can you think of anything more horrible? If someone was to dare remake this story, I hope they would include that angle.
Best Movie Ever
Yes, it's old school. Real extras, not digital clones.
Incredible everything, cinematography, acting, dialogue, locations, costumes, sound, etc....I could go on and on. Peter O'Toole
should have won the Oscar for Best Actor ever. David Lean's production is unrivaled since this movie was made.
If you love movies, this is the ESSENTIAL one to own.
