Acerca de la película

In 2005, music producer Hal Wilner staged an all-star tribute concert in Australia in which a handful of major artists offered their interpretations of Cohen's songs, including Nick Cave, Jarvis Cocker of Pulp, Rufus Wainwright, Beth Orton, Kate and Anna McGarrigle, and many more. This documentary offers an intimate look at the songs, poetry and life of the influential troubadour, Leonard Cohen.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Entertaining, if lightly inquisitive, tribute concert film. – Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune, 24 jun, 2010

Fresh: In the end, it's Cohen's songs that are what this loving musical portrait is all about. – Joel Selvin, San Francisco Chronicle, 24 jun, 2010

Fresh: Whatever the approach, the songs are sturdy enough to support it while remaining resigned and elusive, their words practically glowing in the dark. – Ty Burr, Boston Globe, 15 jul, 2006

Rotten: Bloodless where it should be bold, precious where it should be perceptive and irritating where it should be inspiring. – Ann Hornaday, Washington Post, 16 jul, 2008

Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man

Absolutely beautiful music, re-interpreted by a variety of artists, each in their own indelible way. Freshens up the notion that Leonard Cohen was one hell of a composer. Also, a fine documentary, letting us into Leonard Cohen's head without a lot of fuss. In a word: fantastic.

I'm glad my mom made me watch this...

It was a summer afternoon and I lay on the couch bored half-out of my mind. My mom and I scrolled through the free movies on cable, but there was nothing. Then she remembered something, and told me about this movie she had recorded on Leonard Cohen. I was reluctant to watch it at first, thinking 'who would want to watch a movie about some old guy?'. But my mom told me it would be a good part of my 'cultural education', and I also saw that it had U2 in it. So, I decided to watch.

This movie has changed my life. It has affected my tastes in music and how I write. Knowing about this great musician has strongly affected me. I only now just begin to realize this.

Overall, the movie is enjoyable. But it's more than that - you learn about someone whose life is extraordinary, you listen to some of his music, and you get to see how much he has affected the artists who pay tribute to him. (Who said they're nobodies? Eh-hem, you must be very disconnected from the world of music. U2? Rufus Wainwright?)

Amazing, Simply Amazing

An inspiring documentary, with incredible music performances and insightful interviews all blended beautifully together in this must see film. Especially inspired: Antony performing "If it Be Your Will". (Also get the soundtrack.)
