Plot Summary

Like Crazy beautifully illustrates how your first real love is as thrilling and blissful as it is fragile. When a British college student (Felicity Jones) falls for her American classmate (Anton Yelchin, Star Trek), they embark on a passionate and life-changing journey only to be separated by circumstances beyond their control. “Crazily inventive & totally irresistible*,” Like Crazy explores how a couple faces the real challenges of being together and of being apart. *Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: It's imperative for director and co-writer Drake Doremus to color the film with a great deal of blossoming-love sparkle right off the bat, and he does just that. – Tom Long, Detroit News, Nov 11, 2011

Fresh: What could have come off as stilted and artificial is instead genuine and natural. – Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona Republic, Nov 10, 2011

Fresh: The cast creates such a naturalistic sense of empathy -- a complicity, even -- with the viewers that we're swept up into their characters' lives. – Colin Covert, Minneapolis Star Tribune, Nov 6, 2011

Rotten: Call it l'amour phooey. – Rick Groen, Globe and Mail, Nov 4, 2011

Not a Hollywood film

I think it's important to remember that this film is purposely not like other love stories and shouldn't be judged by the same standards. Those commenting saying this film was poorly shot and edited, had too-low a budget, and was depressing need to consider the film-makers purpose and, in my own opinion, should do a little research before giving such a harsh review. This is an indie film, it was mainly improvisation with no real script, and portrayed a realistic (yes, sometimes heartbreaking) love story. It was shot with a cheap, inexpensive camera and those involved have stated they weren't making a film for money.
Coming from a film student, this was great. It captured emotion, told an interesting and quirky story, and was edited and put together in an unconventional yet surprisingly refreshing way.
I'd recommend it to anyone with an open mind wanting to escape the dull and predictable love stories of modern Hollywood.

Great, realistic movie!

Like Crazy is a realistic and brilliantly edited film. It isn't like other romance movies, it is completely original and fantastically acted. It's not predictable and isn't what I expected. I really liked it and I think it's worth the time to watch it!
