Plot Summary

Four young friends set out to live on just $1 a day for two months in rural Guatemala. Armed with only a video camera, they battle hunger, parasites, and extreme financial stress as they attempt to survive life on the edge. An unimaginable reality for most young Americans, the challenges they face are real and plague over 1.1 billion people around the world. While the friends quickly learn there are no easy answers, the generosity and strength of Rosa, a 20 year old woman, and Chino, a 12 year old boy, give them resilient hope that there are effective ways to make a difference.

Truly Amazing

This film is a truly unique and absolutely unbelievable voyage into the lives of the people of Pena Blanca—showcasing their indomitable spirit in the face of hardship and the creative ways they find to overcome the challenges of poverty. That's what I love most about it—it's an incredible human story about amazing people living without the things that we take for granted every day. Thank you Rosa and Chino!

Amazing!

Such a gripping journey! But also refreshing that it wasn't all about guilt and hopelessness that so many films about poverty end up being. Instead this film leaves you with the incredibly empowering takeaway that small things can have huge positive effects on the lives of the extreme poor. two thumbs up.

From a Sceptic

I was sceptical, but I think its the authenticity of this film that really makes it stand out to me. They take you on this powerful and inspiring journey into the lives of those living in daily hardship and destitution, but manage to still leave you feeling good at the end. Well done guys.
