Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Berg's fine achievement is in relaying that sense of abject danger even as he and his actors honor the utter connection of the men who lost their lives that day.
Fresh: The film effectively assaults its audience almost as aggressively as its subjects.
Fresh: Lone Survivor' hits home and hits hard.
Rotten: Replete with a certain kind of self-importance and self-forgiveness, this Afghan war movie starring Mark Wahlberg has a distinctively martyred America-at-bay feel.
Well worth watching at least once.
1st. Rotten Tomato reviews are horrible.
2nd. This movie is about the men that died that day and a tribute to them. It is NOT about the mission, the politics of war, money, or the desperate need for men to get their gun on.
This movie tells a story of a small group of Navy SEALS sent on a reconnaissance mission when their covert status is blown and they are overrun by the very people they were sent to seek out.
They (the SEALs) show their selflessness under unbelievable odds. Truly heroic men willing to give their lives for another… Specifically their brothers in arms. A great war story that is better than what Hollywood could ever drum up. Quite frankly because the actors/directors/producers/etc. of Hollywood do not understand the way of life required by such men... why they are the way they are... the discipline, self sacrifice, and drive that it takes to have such selfless honor like they do. Marcus Luttrell has done well to bring the proper honor and respect to all those men those 3 days.
I saw this movie in theaters the night it came out and was left with a deep sadness yet a great sense of pride and thankfulness for our military. First off, this is much more than just a movie as it draws you in and makes you feel as if you personally know the characters from the beginning. The action is incredibly realistic and nail biting from the get go. I stepped away from this film devastated, as did the rest of the crowd. I have never seen so many grown men crying because of a movie, including my Veteran father. To keep a review that could be pages long, short, Lone Survivor is the most emotionally impacting movie I have ever seen in my life. Fantastic Movie, God bless the USA and our troops. RIP to all those who've fallen.
this movie show the reality about how much the soldiers fight a war with no return of a normal life.die or live be the same.
but is great movie touching my heart
