Rotten: For the most part, Julie and Antoine's six-hour trip feels as tedious as if it had been rerouted and taken days instead.
Fresh: With a snappy score made up of American standards and tons of Gallic spice, "Love" wins us over.
Fresh: What raises it a notch above the typical slick Hollywood romances are its stars, Ludivine Sagnier and Nicolas Bedos.
Fresh: The film is knowingly sarcastic in its self-awareness without falling back on the gawky meta-squealing of its American rom-com counterparts.
Very cute. For some reason the French do RomCom better than we do in the USA.
This movie was fantastic! I loved it so much, it was very cute, and the plot device of recalling their romance over the plane ride worked really well. I can’t believe how much I liked it, one of my new favorites. It’s feels like it’s been a long time since I saw a romantic comedy that worked well.
It’s a formulaic romantic-comedy, but nevertheless well put together.
If you see this to unwind after a hard day of work, it will be fine.
