Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: The packaging is so intelligently resourceful that most viewers will enjoy the ride regardless of its enigmatic destination.
Fresh: Wildly ambitious, Eubank's sci-fi often hits the mark.
Rotten: It almost works.
Rotten: Has ideas, but ideas alone do not a successful movie make.
May I start by saying that this movie is not for everyone. Defintely an art-house drama. I saw it when it came out in theaters mid August and i have to say that i was truely amazed. the scenery and cinematography were absolutely stunning! really, you couldn't tell that it was a low budget film. It attempts to relate the human need for connection through others by stranding a man in space without contact. Some parts work and some parts dont. For the film itself, definitely something that i will enjoy for a long time. there are parts of it that do seemed to be dragged on out, but other times you wish they would detail, keeping you on the edge of your seat the whole time thinking "where is this going?" but in the end it comes together so beautifully that it takes yourself by surprise. It is a movie that i would enjoy, and plan on watching again!!!
From an AVA fan to another
i was completely stoked to see this movie, once i heard that the cd was leaked, i quickly downloaded it, then downloaded once again from iTunes. of course the movie was the next thing i wanted to see. The movie starts off kinda slow, so expect that, but it'll keep you on the edge of your seat. i watched it in the dark, isolated. i recommend you to do the same because that is when you will truly appreciate this movies art. watch it by yourself, i can't stress that enough, or else you'll keep wondering if the person next to you is enjoying it. anyways back to the review, it kinda gets dragged on in the middle, but it comes all together at the end. the ending does keep you guessing. its kinda like an "INCEPTION" type ending. to where you have to go on the web to understand it. which i do recommend doing. what you may take from this movie may be different than others, this was my take. you can't be isolated, humans need others and William Eubanks does a great job at that. once the movie tells you how long he was in outer space for, you'll completely be surprised.
the movie is very deep. the movie is not so much a beginning, middle, end. or a conflict and resolution movie. its a movie that will give you something to think about once it is over.
The Love Project
This is a brilliant movie all about human connection. I was fortunate to see this in theaters a few months ago for its one night world premiere screening. This is the kind of movie that will keep you thinking, imagining, and emotional. Such a minimalistic, yet powerful movie that will beg you to watch it again once its finished. When i first saw it i was a little confused on the ending, and i was dieing to see it again just to recapture the moment. When you watch this flim, do yourself a favor; turn off the lights, dont watch it with tons of people that will distract you. Watch it alone or with a close loved one. A very powerful and moving film that Angels & Airwaves and William Eubank composed.
