Plot Summary

Based on the true childhood experiences of director Derick Martini, Lymelife is the coming of age story of 15-year old Scott growing up in suburban Long Island. While caught up in his first love, Scott watches the relationships of his parents and their neighbors slowly crumble as they try to keep up with the changing times and expectations of the 1970s. Critically acclaimed, Lymelife features a magnificent ensemble cast, with incredible performances that make you laugh and cry along with them.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: At no point did I feel bored or condescended to, and even though the ending may be overwrought, it had me gripping my chair. – Reyhan Harmanci, San Francisco Chronicle, May 14, 2012

Fresh: Lymelife doesn't have the sheer power of "The Ice Storm," but it's not just another recycling of suburban angst. By allowing their characters complexity, the Martinis spill open those tiny model homes as thoroughly as a dropped Monopoly game. – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: Thanks to a strong ensemble cast, it's poignant and funny. – Andrea Gronvall, Chicago Reader, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: The dysfunctional suburban family drama has become so ubiquitous that the genre has lost all impact. – Tom Long, Detroit News, Jun 24, 2010

Great, quiet film. Jill Hennessy's best work to date. Sweet script. Seamless direction.

This is a well done film

I don't think you can be disappointed by this movie if you go in without pretense. Clever, suspenseful at times, set in early 80s, the formula works. Rental not buy a movie from iTunes (handbrake).
