Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: "M.F.A.'s" themes call for a careful, consistent tone that it is rarely able to maintain, and an increasingly ridiculous third act squanders much of the empathy and engagement that Leite works so hard to build in the early going. – Andrew Barker, Variety, Mar 21, 2017

Fresh: Noelle is a millennial Dirty Harry, tackling the social problems that face this generation in a story that's outsized in nature but metaphorically pierces right at the heart of the matter. – Katie Walsh, Los Angeles Times, Jan 5, 2018

Fresh: Less a pulse-pounding thriller than a conversation starter about injustice and vigilantism. – John DeFore, Hollywood Reporter, Oct 14, 2017

Fresh: an angry as hell piece of pulpy and politicised pop cinema, it's the business. – Travis Johnson, FILMINK (Australia), Apr 12, 2018

Good film overall

While this film is a little inconsistent in parts, and the ending almost completely derails, this is a film worth watching. It's an honest and non-gratuitous depiction of sexual assault and the things women have to deal with when the institutions around them are completely disinterested in helping them in the aftermath. The vigilante aspect of it gives the film entertainment value, but the core message is resonant throughout the film. A good sophomore effort by Natalia Leite and a spot-on performance by Francesca Eastwood.

Tough subject, not the ending you might expect

It is a SAD and TOUGH topic, but I thought the movie protrayed it well. Although, I wish the ending turned out differently, I think Noelle's speech ended the movie very well. Loved the music too.

FINALLY! This should have been made years ago.

Except for a few painful scenes, this was a very satisfying movie to watch. I’ve never rooted for a killer so hard. Genius. Everyone needs to see this...
