Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Somewhere in the middle of this 127-minute film, the energy drops out, and Forster never quite gets it back. – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle, Sep 29, 2011

Rotten: "Machine Gun Preacher'' is crude and ham-handed from its ridiculous title on down, but it still gets to some interesting places. – Ty Burr, Boston Globe, Sep 29, 2011

Rotten: The Lord may work in mysterious ways, but "Machine Gun Preacher" is downright confounding. – Michael O'Sullivan, Washington Post, Sep 30, 2011

Rotten: Childers' deeds are presented simply as heroic. By the end of Machine Gun Preacher, its title character has become a cartoon. – Steven Rea, Philadelphia Inquirer, Sep 29, 2011

Rotton Tomatoes is wrong

I really liked this movie, I don't know what rotten tomatoes is talking about. It does a great job of showing people the problems in Sudan and the problems with drug addiction in the USA. Great filming, good acting. Check it out!

Truth is better than fiction. Worth the watch!!

Get the movie. Who ever says preachers can't be tough- guys NEVER met this one!!

Critics are wrong. This is a true story that you need to see.

This is a really good film that unfortunately too few people are going to see. It's based on a true story about a real man who is trying desperately to get some help to save the people in a country where the government is killing their own. He goes to help build churches - but unwilling to just pray for change - he take a stand and tries to fight back. By the way - the man this is based on is STILL in Africa still fighting for the people and trying to make a difference. And though this film can be hard to watch at some points because of some of the brutality, the truth is they scaled way back on what is really happening. See this film - and tell others.
