Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: It's a sad story, or would be if the zombie apocalypse backdrop - and the inky splotches creeping across Maggie's body - didn't wreak such havoc with the movie's unsmiling sincerity. – Manohla Dargis, New York Times, May 7, 2015

Fresh: The sight of Schwarzenegger in this small, subdued role makes us root for his survival. That's the power of star wattage at work. Not even the undead can kill it. – Joe McGovern, Entertainment Weekly, May 7, 2015

Rotten: The plot is lean, the dialogue is spare and there are some intriguing stabs at intellectual and emotional terrain. But the pacing is deadly, so slow there might be time for a catnap or two without missing anything important. – Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times, May 7, 2015

Fresh: If you thought there was nothing new under the zombie-themed sun, or that Arnold Schwarzenegger can't act, give "Maggie" a try. – Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona Republic, May 7, 2015

Very Realistic

Arnold Schwarzenegger did a fantastic job as playing a father emotionally destroyed over the recent news that his daughter Abigail Breslin is turning into a zombie. I thought this movie was a very real look on what a zombie apocalypse would really look like and it was a real look on what it would be like to deal with someone you love slowly dying.

This is not an action movie, I repeat this is not an action movie, you are not going to see Arnold throwing out his funny/stupid one liners and then blowing zombies up. No what you get is a very real and gritty look on the struggle of a father.

Arnold is at his best as far as his acting goes, a true emotionally charged story.

Awful

Don't even think about renting this silly movie!

Boring and slow paced - with some exciting moments

I watched this during a plane ride and the film seemed to drag on forever. The plot is less zombie killing action and more of the emotional journey that Arnold's daughter faces when becoming a zombie. Unfortunately you never come to care about the characters, Maggie is extremely one demential and you really have no reason to feel for her in her journey. Arnold is really much the prime focus on this film and gives a good performance as a grieving father. Unless you're a hardcore Arnie fan, skip over this film.
