Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: An ambitious, tough, seriously considered biographical film that, with honor, eludes easy characterization.
Fresh: Lee and company have performed a powerful service: they have brought Malcolm X very much to life again, both as man and myth.
Fresh: Lee has chosen a big subject and, with his quirky talent, has done it superb justice.
Fresh: A spiritually enriching testament to the human capacity for change -- and surely Spike Lee's most universally appealing film.
Great movie, Washington is just incredible (as always) and the only downside to the film is it did not touch enough upon Malcom's eventual come around from his own racism and his move, although slow, toward being a bit more open to the thought that at least not all white people are bad, no small feat considering the group he belonged to at the time. Highly recommend this movie.
This Movie Is Deep !!!!!
One of Denzel Washington's best roles Period !!!
One of the 10 best Movies of the 90's
Definitely one of the greatest epics ever made on one individual. From the set pieces, costumes, music and acting, this movie takes you into a world that no one but Spike Lee could direct at the time. Some scenes with music are forever etched in my mind because of the beauty of the cinematography that they were placed in. (My Prayer and A Change Is Gonna Come) Spike Lee in top form and one of my favorite movies of all time.
