The cyberpunk anime film MARDOCK SCRAMBLE tells the story of Rune Balot, a girl kidnapped by a nefarious gambler named Shell Septinos, who tried to have her killed in an explosion - but didn't count on her being rescued, and healed with the use of cybernetic technology. Now, Rune is out for revenge, and has the power of biotechnology on her side.

Customer Reviews

The animation in this is abesolutely gorgeous, the action is incredibly intense, the story is great , and the main character is likable and sympathetic. A cliffhanger ending and some occasionally patchy VA work are the only two negatives I can think of. Highly reccomended if you enjoyed Ghost in The Shell and other cyberpunk anime.

Love this series.

I've read the manga and am in the process of reading the book. It's intense, dark, and a little creepy sometimes but the art and story are beautiful. They did a good job with the dubbing. This movie is actually the first of three. The second is already playing in theatres and the third is set to come out by the end of this year in Japan. I can't wait until the other movies come to the US!

"Blade Runner" meets "Leon" with beautiful whimsy...

Really had a great time with the new anime movie “Mardock Scramble” last night! Well made dark sci-fi adventure fun. Basically a blend of “Blade Runner”, “Leon” and “Armatage the Third” with a liberal dose of Mad House studio. Made by GoHands, a studio I haven’t heard of before, this is the first of three promised movies. The movie does end with a cliff-hanger moment, but it’s such a satisfying and beautiful ride up to that point that you won’t really mind. Can’t wait to see the next part!
