About the Movie

Mark Felt - The Man Who Brought Down the White House centers on the true story of “Deep Throat”, the notorious whistleblower for one of the greatest scandals of all time, Watergate. The true identity of the secret informant remained a mystery and source of much speculation for over 30 years. Until, in 2005, special agent Mark Felt shockingly revealed himself as the tipster. This powerful true story chronicles the life of the brilliant and uncompromising Felt, who sacrificed everything – his family, his career, his freedom – in the name of justice.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Intrigue among the agents and lackeys at the Bureau seems meant to simmer beneath it all, but it's all so lukewarm you might wonder if someone forgot even to turn the stove on. – Alan Scherstuhl, Village Voice, Oct 4, 2017

Rotten: Why does this movie feel so tentative, so conflicted? – Ty Burr, Boston Globe, Oct 12, 2017

Rotten: Through it all, Felt himself is so steadfastly opaque that the audience feels more distant from him at the end of the film than at the beginning. – Ann Hornaday, Washington Post, Oct 5, 2017

Rotten: This is a paint-by-numbers procedural that expects the audience to know the history of Watergate, hits the ground running-but then feels more like a steady jog through the past than a fast-paced thriller. – Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times, Oct 6, 2017

Rather dull

Never gets going really and fails to explain why Felt became Deep Throat. Also Liam Nessen still has an Irish accent!

Great movie!

Strange to see all the low ratings from the critics. This was a great portrait of an enigmatic figure. Resonates with today's FBI and Justice Dept. proceedings.

Must see

Very relevant of how corruption can flow through the west wing to the FBI and how only one man with honor for the truth protected the democratic institution.
