Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: I find it irresistible. Plenty of other adults will feel the same way. And, needless to say, so will the kids. – Bosley Crowther, New York Times, Apr 6, 2016

Fresh: The sets are luxuriant, the songs lilting, the scenario witty but impeccably sentimental, and the supporting cast only a pinfeather short of perfection. – TIME Magazine, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Julie Andrews' first appearance on the screen is a signal triumph and she performs as easily as she sings, displaying a fresh type of beauty nicely adaptable to the color cameras. – Variety Staff, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: The grace of the effects makes it some kind of classic. – Dave Kehr, Chicago Reader, Apr 6, 2016

Magical

No matter how old I am, this film has always made me smile. I recommend it for children ( and those who are children at heart ) it's a wonderful family movie.

An absolutely wonderful film

Walt Disney had a hard time getting the rights to Mary Poppins, the author didn't want it turned into a cartoon. And what we got was a mix of live action and animation. Walt was very proud of what he did with all his films. And the message is simple enough, "a spoonful of sugar will help the medicine go down"
