Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: "Undone by sentimentality," grumbles a senior secret agent in "Spooks: The Greater Good," having been foiled when a long-favored rendezvous location proves a trap. He might as well be talking about the film itself.
Fresh: There's a surplus of double-dealings, plot twists and international locales to justify the theatrical treatment.
Fresh: Spooks: The Greater Good, though nothing entirely new, is a pacy, well-crafted spy-thriller that certainly matches the competition.
Fresh: The big-screen spin-off from TV's Spooks is an old-fashioned affair -- a ripping yarn with more than a hint of John Buchan about it.
Amazing...in true MI-5 fashion
I have been a fan of MI-5 for many seasons, this movie did not disappoint. Although There are quite a few scenes, which require knowledge from past seasons. Rent it!
Excellent Add to TV series
Tv series ran 2002-2011; great series famous for killing off its stars on a regular basis
Movie is a nice add; some knowledge to tv series is helpful prior to watching movie
MI-5 - NOT a rip off of the Mission Impossible brand.
If you liked the TV series, you'll like this.
The main for this review os really to respond to MikeTheSnowman's review claiming a rip-off of the Mission Impossible brand, pressumably because of the "MI" in the name.
1. MI-5 is the name of the British internal intelligence agency - soemwhat similar to the FBI. You get that right?
2. The TV series from which this film is spun off has been on the go for 13 years - back then the Mission Impossible franchise was still called "Mission Impossible", not "M:I whatever". Who's ripping off who?
3. The real name of this TV / Film series is 'Spooks' (slang for spies). But unfortunately that was deemed too un-PC for our delicate American sensibilities so the name of the TV series was changed for its US release.
4. Finally, what aspect of the Mission Impossible franchise is in any way original itself?
