Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington gives a riveting performance in Spike Lee's breathtaking film on music and love. Talented trumpeter Bleek Gilliam (Washington) is obsessed by his music and indecisiveness about his girlfriends Indigo (Joie Lee) and Clarke (Cynda Williams). But when he is forced to come to the aid of his manager and childhood friend (Spike Lee), Bleek finds his world more fragile that he ever imagined. Stunning cinematography, a rousing score and superlative performances come together in this unforgettable feast for the senses.

Rotten: From characters to camera angles, this story of a self-absorbed jazz trumpeter is one long cliche, the kind that might make his most loyal admirers wince and wonder, 'Spike, what happened?'
Fresh: Few will accuse Spike Lee's Mo' Better Blues of being a masterpiece. But it's still full of the things that make Spike Lee films, well, Spike Lee films. Full of the fun, full of the spirit.
Fresh: Mo' Better Blues is not a great film, but it's an interesting one, which is almost as rare.
Fresh: It's tight, suspenseful, funny and packed with great music.
Denzel Washington is a great actor. Wesley Snipes is in one of my favorite movies (Demolition Man). I don't know what he does in this but he is a great villian.
Fantastic movie, fantastic soundtrack
Truly a great Spike Lee movie, with his typically innovative camera work, and outstanding performances by Denzel Washington and the rest, and the music is superb. Get the soundtrack.
