Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The frenzied drama has no clear point of view besides its air of celebrity condescension.
Rotten: With all the ranting about a "rigged" financial system, the movie certainly captures the zeitgeist, but it' so overloaded with action-movie tropes and tech-based plot contrivances that it begins to feel a little silly.
Fresh: After a very strong start that pokes some nice satirical jabs at the media and the workings of the finance world, the film does default into a pretty standard, though entertaining affair.
Fresh: It wants to be more than just a thriller; it aims to attack rapacious financial institutions, witless TV programs and the short attention span of the general public, and for the most part it manages to achieve all of that.
Broken beyond repair
This movie employs every cliché in the book, then adds some of its own for good measure. The dialogue is uncomfortable bordering on painful, and the plot is silly in its own right. The worst thing that happened in this movie (spoiler alert) is that George Clooney wasn't blown to pieces at the beginning; his acting was so bad I was hoping to see him vanish in a giant fireball. Still worth watching if you're curious to see how bad a movie can get.
George Clooney is unwatchable. His acting is sub par and his posturing is an assault on the viewers senses. Terrible movie. Boring. Zero.
This was a great movie in a documentary style.
