Plot Summary

Even for a 12-year old, D.J. Walters has a particularly overactive imagination. He is convinced that his haggard and crabby neighbor Horace Nebbercracker, who terrorizes all the neighborhood kids, is responsible for Mrs. Nebbercracker's mysterious disappearance. Any toy that touches Nebbercracker's property, promptly disappears, swallowed up by the cavernous house in which Horace lives. D.J. has seen it with his own eyes! But no one believes him, not even his best friend, Chowder. What everyone does not know is D.J. is not imagining things. Everything he's seen is absolutely true and it's about to get much worse than anything D.J could have imagined.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Until this animated horrorfest turns shrill, debuting director Gil Kenan delivers enough visual goods to justify the faith of producers Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Nov 24, 2006

Fresh: The movie treats children with respect. Monster's pre-teens are sarcastic, think they're smarter than their parents and are going crazy over the opposite sex. – Scott Bowles, USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: The difference between Monster House and most other animated movies is a little thing called story. It actually has one, and doesn't just trot out cheeky characters spewing gratuitous pop-culture references. – Christy Lemire, Associated Press, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Monster House benefits from strong graphic design and lovely lighting, but the script is nothing to write home about. – Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal, Jun 24, 2010

Monster House

DJ, a young 12 yr old boy is always spying on his neighbor Mr.Nebbercracker, a phsyco old dude with a wigged up house. This movie is pretty funny, has good graphics and is easy to follow. Should you buy it? Depends if you like abnormal things, if you do, rock on! If not...eh dont buy it. I own this movie. I enjoyed watching it.

Coolio!!!!

okay, so, the other day my older brother came over and we watched some random movie on one of his channels because his apartment doesn't have cable and he was bored. so monster house was on and neither of us had ever seen it. once we got into it, we were like Oh My Gosh! this is great!!!! I totally recommend it if you enjoy dying of laughter and hysteria (but NOT LITERALLY!!!)!!!!!
