Six years ago NASA discovered the possibility of alien life within our solar system. A probe was launched to collect samples, but crashed upon reentry over Central America. Soon after, new life forms began to appear and half of Mexico was quarantined as an infected zone. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain “the creatures”... Our story begins when a U.S. journalist agrees to escort a shaken American tourist through the infected zone to the safety of the U.S. border.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: A sharp little low-fi monster movie operating from a tantalizing premise.
Fresh: Monsters is part immigration parable, part war allegory with a dose of It Happened One Night and The African Queen tossed in.
Rotten: The most interesting thing here is the budget.
Fresh: A stunning piece of work that packs a devastating emotional wallop.
NOT what I expected
Okay, so when I saw this trailer, I was way stoked. Great premise. Looked like great alien creatures. I was expecting a "cloverfield-like" movie based on the images and trailer that the movie distributor put out. The movie IS NOT action. It is NOT suspense. It's a fairly good character study and there are some subtle underplays connecting the monsters to the humans but that's about it. In short, it's not entertaining AT ALL which is quite contrary to what I had expected based on the marketing. I mean look at the plot summary: "stunning sci-fi epic." there's nothing stunning about it and nothing epic. Sure it's sci-fi because it has aliens but that's about it.
Just a warning to all. If you are expecting a rip-roaring, kick it through the jungle heart-pounding sci-fi thriller don't get this movie. if you want "go the distance" with alien creatures, this flick is for you.
This movie isn't even out in theaters yet. The price is perfect considering the fact that when it actually DOES come out you will be paying ten bucks a ticket and twenty bucks for popcorn... Don't be a fool. Save $30 and watch it at home before it's released to theaters!
I want my money back....
Like my predecessors, who have watched this movie, this movie isnt what the trailer or the Plot summary promises it'd be. I saw this thinking it'd be a Human vs aliens smash fest or a horror survival(partially true). It ended up being just a tale of two people just gradually falling in love. Forget any promises of seeing any cool monster vs human on epic scales or periodic skirmishes with the spacial invaders, theres hardly any showings throughout the movie, majority of the movie is just filled with "Fluff" nonsense that just makes u keep asking, where's the monsters?! If I can get my money back i would, it was a huge waste of my time and looks like i'm out 10 bucks. If i could save any of you from this tragic mistake of a fail promise, plz heed these words.
