Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Here's the lowdown on the latest chapter in Mortal Kombat: deadly dull. – Lawrence Van Gelder, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Rotten: Fragmented and monotonous, without a semblance of the gymnastic cleverness that at least made the first Mortal Kombat film into watchable trash, Mortal Kombat Annihilation is as debased as movies come. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Sep 10, 2014

Rotten: Pic consists largely of choppily edited fight scenes (usually involving somersaults and back flips) combined with various computer graphic effects. – Daniel M. Kimmel, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Quite serious, charmless and critic-proof. – Bob Heisler, Los Angeles Times, Sep 9, 2014

An improvement to Mortal Kombat !

A lot more detail than in the first film.

I have always loved Mortal Kombat and this movie is really cool!! So I would definitely buy it if I were you!!

Utter garbage

Mortal Kombat 1 was one of my favorite movies, largely because all of the characters had personalities, back stories, and awesome fight scenes. Here, the characters stories are traded for fighting, fighting, and more fighting. Many of the villains don't even have names! Scorpion returns with no explanation, Shiva's death is a complete waste of an interesting character, half of the actors from the first movie have been switched, and the "hidden powers" of the protagonist essentially does nothing at the end fight, which is drawn out waaaay too long. Mortal Kombat 1 may have had a few flaws, but this movie makes it look like it deserves an Oscar.
