Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: A gothic moodpiece masquerading as a thriller, My Cousin Rachel is a misdirected swoon of a movie-long on black-veiled romance and ravishing atmosphere and a little short, alas, on dividends. – Leah Greenblatt, Entertainment Weekly, Jun 9, 2017

Fresh: moody, mind-bending – April Wolfe, Village Voice, Dec 1, 2017

Fresh: Du Maurier's novel was melodrama infused with the poisoned suspicions of male-female relations. Weisz does full justice to the tragic realism inside the contrivance. – Charles Taylor, Newsweek, Jun 9, 2017

Rotten: Unfortunately, both the film and the chemistry generated between Weisz and Claflin feel about as smoldering and lustful as a tub of margarine. – Oliver Jones, New York Observer, Jun 12, 2017

A good film but really lacked a lot

This was an exceptional film for the part of the actors, but the story line was too dry and just left you feeling like it could have been so much more.

As one of the critics said, and I never agree with critics, it felt like you are supposed to fall in love with a tub of margerine. Just doesn't quite meet the grand talent of the actors. Found it interesting, but very dull.

Could not get through an hour of this crap

Missed Opportunity

Story had good bones, but because the movie held back, it just never got good. This was a missed opportunity for what could have been a great movie if they only had more action/development and went "there".
