About the Movie

From director Claude Barras comes Academy Award and Golden Globe nominated film, My Life as a Zucchini, a story that stands as a testament to the resilience of the human heart and that critics call "nothing short of a miracle!" (The Hollywood Reporter). After a family tragedy, 9-year-old Zucchini is befriended by a police officer, Raymond, who accompanies him to his new foster home filled with other orphans his age. At first he struggles to find his place in this strange and, at times, hostile environment. But with the help of Raymond and his newfound friends, Zucchini learns to trust and love again as he searches for a new family of his own in a film that soars with laughter, sorrow, and joy.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: For the U.S. version, the French voice cast has been replaced by an English one. But no matter what language it's in, My Life as Zucchini never sacrifices what's true for what's trite. This is animation as an art form, inspiring and indelible. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Feb 23, 2017

Fresh: There may be a few overly wistful moments here, but in the main it's an affecting portrait of a group of unlucky but resilient children. – Walter V. Addiego, San Francisco Chronicle, Mar 2, 2017

Fresh: It's well worth seeking out for older kids who don't mind reading subtitles, their parents, and any adults who can appreciate a good story movingly and creatively told. – Ty Burr, Boston Globe, Mar 2, 2017

Fresh: It may not sound like it, but calling this barely 70-minute Swiss stop-motion film "heavy" - as in substantial and almost swollen with feeling - is a true compliment. – Michael O'Sullivan, Washington Post, Mar 2, 2017

Why does the dubbed version get the special treatment?

Seriously iTunes? The English dubbed version has 5.1 sound but the original French dialogue (the way it's SUPPOSED to be viewed btw) only gets stereo? I'm cancelling my preorder and will buy the blu ray instead. Don't understand this idea that dubbing a film makes it better than reading subtitles. I bet iTunes only puts the French audio version in the iTunes Extras so you're forced to stream it.

Three cheers for Zucchini!

Saw this in theaters with my mother on Wednesday night and was absolutely blown away! Beautiful, passionate, melancholy, and true to itself, My Life as A Zucchini is definitely five stars in my book!

Very good movie!

This claymation film is wonderful. The care that went into getting every emotion perfect is awesome. It's a very good story also. Definitely recommend it. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»
