France, a single mother from the blighted industrial north, and Steve, a hotshot trader with a keen eye for the killer deal, are thrown together when he’s looking for a cleaner and she’s looking for a job. When Alban, Steve’s 3-year-old son, arrives on the doorstep to stay with his dad, Steve might need more than a cleaner. And France might need some payback from the man who almost single-handedly shut down the factory where she worked..

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Paints an alluring picture of a pan-European cosmopolitan culture whose characters hopscotch from one country to another with hardly a second thought in a lighthearted floating party.
Fresh: Though the setup sounds cliche, the storytelling is polished enough to keep auds hooked and occasionally surprised.
Rotten: A feeble stab at topicality from that master of overripe Gallic melodrama, Cedric Klapisch.
Rotten: True, the movie sidesteps a couple of cliches it seems headed directly toward, but I might have preferred them to the preposterous melodrama it substitutes.
This movie has surprises galore. For example, about three quarters of the way through the movie, the plot looked like the two main characters were going to have a love affair beyond a one night stand. And bang! in a few seconds the entire plot theme changes and becomes unique rather than mundane. I believe that the reason that it has been overlooked is because the English is in subtitles. Karin Viard really convinced me of the roles she played. In addition, I totally disagree with the review by Roger Ebert that there is preposterous melodrama substituted for cliche plot lines. If one lived in one of the towns whose businesses were decimated by short trading on the stock exchange, one would understand the emotions expressed in the movie as being right in line with real life. Since Chicago, Ebert's base did not experience the loss of businesses that other areas did, it is understandable that he would be out of touch.
