From Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of Pirates Of The Caribbean, and Jon Turteltaub, director of Phenomenon, comes National Treasure. It's the thrilling, edge-of-your-seat adventure starring Academy Award (R) winner Nicolas Cage (1995 Best Actor, Leaving Las Vegas) as Benjamin Franklin Gates. Ever since he was a boy, Gates has been obsessed with finding the legendary Knights Templar Treasure, the greatest fortune known to man. As Gates tries to find and decipher ancient riddles that will lead him to it, he's dogged by a ruthless enemy (Sean Bean, The Lord Of The Rings trilogy) who wants the riches for himself. Now in a race against time, Gates must steal one of America's most sacred and guarded documents -- the Declaration of Independence -- or let it, and a key clue to the mystery, fall into dangerous hands. Heart-pounding chases, close calls, and the FBI turn Gates's quest into a high-stakes crime caper and the most exciting treasure hunt you've ever experienced.

Rotten: Cage? Movie star as social studies teacher.
Rotten: Ten minutes into the picture, you're searching the screen for life-support machines.
Fresh: National Treasure gets more entertaining as the preposterousness rises.
Fresh: It has no ambition, little sense and false sentiment, but it does have velocity, high spirits and scale.
National Treasure was one of the movies I did not get to see in theaters. When it came out on DVD, I watched it right away. From start to finish I was literally on the edge of my seat! It is a totally awesome movie! Nicolas Cage's character Ben Gates is a history genious and has been trying to solve a mystery that has been handed down throughout his family, and he is determined to find out what the treasure is. He gets help from his hilarious friend Riley Poole (Justin Bartha) and a not-so-willing-to-help Abigail Chase (Diane Kruger). Check out this movie!!!!!
Its always surprises me when I actually learn something in the process of being entertained. That's what this movie did. It was funny, action-y, and overall, really great. Of course, I'm kind of biased because I love Jerry Bruckheimer, Justin Bartha and Nicholas Cage, but they did great. I recommend it to any movie lover.
Best Movie EVER!
I can sit and watch this movie five times in a row and NEVER get bored! The plot, the characters, and ALL of the one-liners by Justin Bartha's character (Riley Poole) are enough to keep me entertained for DAYS. The music in the movie is all instrumental, so it isn't distracting from the plot, and a lot of the riddles and stuff are fun to try and work out yourself if you've never seen the movie before, especially if you have little kids. Some moments are scary, and there are a couple instances with skeletons and dead bodies, but that's the worst of it. All in all, it's a great family film with a great plot and an AWESOME script! Definitely one of Nicholas Cage's best movies. HIGHLY recommended.
