About the Movie

In 1995, Dustin Turner and his best friend Billy Joe Brown were in the final weeks of 15 months of training to become U.S. Navy SEALs. On the night of June 18, they went to a nightclub to celebrate and met a young woman named Jennifer Evans. They were the last two people to see her alive. Through eye witness reports, evidence and testimony, the truth begins to emerge, or does it? First time filmmaker and former US Navy Chief JD Leete turns his attention to this front page news and comes up with startling discrepancies, judicial oversights and shocking consequences which have changed these two young men’s lives forever.

Seal Trainee Becomes Collateral Damage

This film focuses on the lives, crimes, and punishments of two members of one of the most admired and storied groups in the US military. These men, both Navy Seal trainees, were arrested for the brutal slaying of a young woman by the name of Jennifer Evans. Their speedy trial, and their punishment of life behind bars, feels like a “win” for the good guys at the beginning of the film. After taking a tough, in-depth look at the conduct of both men, as well as incompetent defense attorneys and politically motivated prosecutors, viewers are left wondering if justice was really served. Personally, I was left feeling that there might be more than one victim of this terrible crime, besides Ms. Evans.

This is a tough film to watch, but an amazing examination of how a political, media-fueled trial resulted in an innocent man becoming a target of opportunity for overzealous prosecutors.

2 victims not just one

What a sad story and what a commentary on Va. prosecutors ,who only care about a ‘win’ and not the truth. I hope people contact Virginias governor. Mr Turner's story needs to be told.

Powerful Film

I normally don't go for this kind of film but it's compellingly told and like a train wreck, I couldn't stop watching it. Kudos to the filmmakers for exposing not just a horrible crime, but the injustices that followed it.
