About the Movie
New Chefs on the Block is an intimate, multi-year portrait of two chefs and their staffs in Washington, DC who struggle to open and maintain their first restaurants. The film begins with each restaurant under construction and follows them through their first year of business. Against all odds, one becomes the most famous new restaurant in America, winning Bon Appetit magazine's Best New Restaurant in America award. The other is forced to redefine success when his wife quits her high-paying job to work at the restaurant full-time. Starring Aaron Silverman of Rose's Luxury and Frank Linn of Frankly. . . Pizza! Featuring legendary chefs and restaurateurs Michel Richard, Danny Meyer, Mike Isabella, Emily Sprissler and Washington Post food writer Tim Carman.
Intimate and Real
Compelling characters, stroke-of-luck endings and beautiful cinematography. It's not every day you cry and laugh hysterically while watching a film about two chefs and their restaurants. This is a must-watch for any foodie, entrepreneur or dreamer. Maybe my new favorite documentary, and I'm not even a foodie.
Real sweat tears and laughter
Loved this movie. Caught it at the film festival in San Jose. Great characters and it shows what it really takes to open and operate a successful restaurant., I bought the pre-order and can't wait to see it again. It's fun and absorbing!
Fascinating Look at What it Takes to Open a Restaurant
I have seen this award winning film three times and every time I see, hear or learn something new. The stories of the two chef owners are compelling, eye opening, and heart warming. It also gives you a rare perspective on the impact of opening your first restaurant on family and friends. Highly recommend it!
