Slow moving on purpose. A time of revolution we hopefully will never understand for a people who's history made our present worthwhile.

Highly recommended

Films about "inner life" are difficult to do well, but with fine, nuanced performances from a veteran, all star cast, director Bille August seems to have pulled it off. Excellent cinematography, and amazing Lisbon as a backdrop complete the package. This is one the critics got wrong. Sometimes they really don't get it, they only think they do.

A true film, Cinema as an art form...

Finally a good film a mixture between reading a novel and watching a film. With depth and fantastic acting in a lovely setting in Lisbon Portugal. Had to be a German production (Hamburg and Munich) of course, such art doesn't come from cheap Hollywood. Take your time and watch what fine movie making is all about.
