Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Whyte is not here to pry or probe too deeply. He simply records the day-to-day routine of these cloistered inhabitants. – Xan Brooks, Guardian, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Falls between the fly-on-the-wall probing of a Molly Dineen documentary and the more transcendental approach of Into Great Silence, Philip Groning's portrait of the Grande Chartreuse monastery in the Swiss Alps. – Sukhdev Sandhu, Daily Telegraph (UK), Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: The sisters' insights into a life of seclusion, contemplation and intercession are courageous and compelling, while the revelations about self-discovery, doubt and divine consolation are laudably frank and deeply moving. – David Parkinson, Empire Magazine, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: The austerity can be wearing. At times you send up a prayer to Poulenc to come and set these Carmelites to music. – Nigel Andrews, Financial Times, Jun 24, 2010

An Amazingly Uplifting & Anointed Movie

The movie deals with so many things... forgiveness, humility, sharing our faith with others, truth in love... you will laugh, you will cry and you will whether out loud or in your heart, cry out to the Lord... you will be convicted (not condemned)... you will want to jump for joy and sing praise to the One Who Gives Life... you will never look at "circumstances" the same again... and ultimately no matter where you are in your life and walk... you will want to grow nearer to "what is real" in this movie. May you be blessed by watching!!

Absolutely unforgettable!

A movie without equal! I loved Fireproof, watched it over and over, but I have to say this movie was even better. The acting was inspired. The story hits you on so many levels that you can't help but be completely absorbed. God is doing great things through movies and this is one of them. If you are tired of the trash permeating cinema and even if you are not a Christian, do yourself the favor and add this movie to your collection. You will NOT be sorry!

There should be more movies like this

Its great to see a good Christian movie that is inspiring, uplifting, and about love (for others, ourselves, and God) that fits into our modern times. Finding God or continuing to have God in your life will always make things better. I love the part of the movie where the husband states "I want what you have". It says so much. This movie can teach so much, if you just listen. I thank all involeved in the making of this movie for doing such a good job. If you want to be inspired watch this. If your a woman who has had a troubled relationship, watch this movie. I think anyone who is interested in this movie will enjoy it. I have to say that its not my favorite movie, but it is a good movie and worth watching.
