Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Boasting a terrific cast and a flimsy plot whose logic disappears faster than a rabbit in a hat, Now struggles to pull off its cinematic sleights of hand.
Rotten: This would-be "Ocean's Eleven" of the magic world remains watchable throughout, even as it plods along without ever quite fulfilling its potential.
Fresh: Ultimately "Now You See Me" promises more than it delivers, though its cast is always fun to watch and the pace never lags. It has the magic for a while ... and then it disappears.
Fresh: Clever, original, wildly improbable, wildly enjoyable and directed with all the necessary flash and dazzle, the film combines the pleasure of a well-engineered heist movie with a twisty-turny plot full of wit, double-takes and sleight-of-camera.
Now you see me, Now you don't
"Now you see me" is an extremely enjoyable film. It wasn't just the mind-blowing magic tricks they pulled off, but the mystery behind it as well. It was truly spectacular what these people could pull off. It takes intelligence and pure talent to do these kinds of tricks.
In the end they explain how the managed to do every stunt they pulled so don't worry about missing that. Not to spoil anything for anyone but it ends with something you would never expect. Like they say, the closer you look, the less you actually see. Worth the money.
Absolutely loved the movie in theaters, so glad it's finally available on iTunes. You will not regret purchasing this film.
This movie had a really cool idea. Magicians that commit crimes right in front of you and are pretty much able to get away with it.
My problem is it was just so overly dramatic and cheesy at some points. Most of the time, we only see them on stage. I think it would have been great to see them more behind the scenes. That would have made the movie way more interesting. Like at 5 points in New York. Did they set up graphics and a sound system before they got there?!?!?
There were a lot of plot holes. Like Mark Ruffalo and that one chick seemed to click really fast. It just seemed rushed. Good Idea, bad execution….
