Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The elegant use of wide screen can't totally obscure stiff acting, and the rug pulling finally seems arbitrary. When nothing can be trusted, the mirage of suspense disappears. – Ben Kenigsberg, New York Times, Apr 10, 2014

Fresh: Oculus is about one adjustment away from being a superior thriller. – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle, Jan 5, 2015

Fresh: For a horror movie, Oculus is surprisingly lean on the scares. It's more interested in playing tricks with perception and bending reality. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Apr 11, 2014

Fresh: Oculus, a cleverer-than-average haunted-house movie... speaks to a couple of widespread anxieties-one topical, the other sadly timeless. – Ben Sachs, Chicago Reader, Jan 5, 2015

Something special

As a huge horror fan, I find myself watching crappy horror flick after crappy gore flick, always in search for the next good one. Oculus is that one. It's incredibly creative and very creepy. I highly recommend it.

If you're a major horror lover it's going to let you down. It's a bit creepy and gorey but otherwise not scary at all. If you don't pay attention you're going to get lost and with constant switching you'll go mad.

major eye opener and mind blowing pay attention your gonna love it from past to reality and questioning what is real and what your doing. worth watching!
