Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: A bunch of well-known faces look lost in "Once Upon a Time in Venice," which is billed as an action-comedy but has little comedy and less action. – Neil Genzlinger, New York Times, Jun 15, 2017

Rotten: Bruce Willis barks up a number of wrong trees in this scattered, only sparsely amusing shaggy-dog mystery. – Guy Lodge, Variety, Jun 15, 2017

Rotten: Bruce Willis' latest effort to dislodge his film career from a stubborn rut goes unrewarded with "Once Upon a Time in Venice," a wincingly unfunny comedy caper set along L.A.'s funky beach community. – Michael Rechtshaffen, Los Angeles Times, Jun 15, 2017

Rotten: That hissing sound you hear is the air being let out of Bruce Willis as he struggles mightily to reconnect with once-vital action-comedy chops in the dim, unfunny Once Upon a Time in Venice. – Robert Abele, TheWrap, Jun 16, 2017

Bruce Willis channels a "John Wick" comedy

THIS IS A COMEDY!!! Before going into this film, this is not a gunho action film about a man who gets revenge, even though the trailer kind of misleads us that way. This is a comedy, if you liked Bruce in " the whole nine yards" movies you will love this film. It has wit and charm and funny scenes. John Goodman is great in this, although wish he was in it a little more.

The only fault I have with this film is the name of the film. The title should have been called something else. It doesn't deserve that type of title. Also the last 2 mins of the film is a head scratcher, the screenwriters didn't know how to end the story?? You'll get me when you watch it. It's a good movie, but it's still far from Bruce's Die Hard days.

Fun Romp With Willis in Venice....More Please

I dont get all the other bad reviews. This was fun fun and hip film. Willis was at his best along with the rest of the cast. Great structure and flow for this story. Good chemistry and terrific performances with the cast. I would love to see more of this.

Sunday morning entertainment

This is a good movie to watch on your lazy days when you don't put too much thought into anything. No it's not an Oscar contender but it's witty and features the great Bruce Willis and John Goodman. Add in an almost unrecognizable Jason Momoa and you got a very entertaining movie!
