About the Movie
In this hilarious romantic comedy, Molly Mahoney (Aubrey Dollar) is flying home to Chicago for her mom's wedding and tells her family she is bringing a "Mystery Man" with her. When she discovers her Mystery Man has a Mystery Wife, she dumps him at the curbside check-in. In shock, she runs into childhood friend Josh Shiffman (Shane McRae) who is flying to the same event. Molly cries until she falls asleep on Josh’s shoulder. While she is passed out, Josh gets a call from his parents and finds out his father, Max (Daniel J. Travanti), is dying and his only regret is he will never meet the woman who will marry his son. Desperate to fulfill his dad's final wish, Josh claims he has already met that woman, close family friend: Molly Mahoney! Josh convinces a reluctant Molly to play fiancée for a few days. As the lie snowballs, these two boisterous families begin to plan what is really a phony wedding and somewhere in the chaos Molly and Josh may actually be falling for each other!

Rotten: Frantic and flagrantly formulaic, this forced farce about a sham engagement sacrifices plot credibility and character motivation for stale humor and cheap setups.
Great movie! I was laughing throughout the whole thing. It is adorably funny. Even the men in the theatre were laughing out loud! Perfect for a couples pizza and movie night!!
Best Picture Comedy
I was lucky enough to see this film when it screened at the Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose and WON Best Picture Comedy. The director, John Burgess, and leading lady, Aubrey Dollar, stayed after the screening for a Q&A. Very surprised that the film was made on a shoestring budget and had the polish of a studio release. And Aubrey easily won over the hearts of the audience with her performance. If you love indy romantic comedies, then you will love ONE SMALL HITCH.
Excellent little gem.
Great acting, great leads. I was rooting for them from the beginning. Excellent soundtrack. My wife and both loved it!
