About the Movie

IN THEATERS NOW! Oscar-nominated writer-director Nacho Vigalondo (The ABCs of Death, Extraterrestrial, V/H/S: Viral) creates an action-packed world of voyeurism and suspense in his thriller Open Windows. Nick (Elijah Wood - Maniac, The Lord of the Rings) is excited to discover that he's won a dinner date with his favorite actress, Jill Goddard (Sasha Grey - Would You Rather, The Girlfriend Experience). But when Jill refuses to honor the contest, her manager Chord (Neil Maskell - Wild Bill, Pusher) makes an offer he can't refuse - the ability to view Jill secretly via computer. Nick begins watching the unknowing star on her webcam, not realizing that this decision will put both himself and Jill at risk as they enter a terrifying world of cat-and-mouse where nothing, and no one are as they seem.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: A thriller with so many viewpoints, feints and fake-outs that it swiftly disappears up its own URL. – Jeannette Catsoulis, New York Times, Nov 6, 2014

Fresh: A fiendishly inventive thriller built around an audacious if unsustainable gimmick, Open Windows elevates Hitchcockian suspense to jittery new levels of mayhem and paranoia. – Justin Chang, Variety, Nov 3, 2014

Rotten: Before the tedious and convoluted cyber-thriller "Open Windows" is said and done, you may feel like jumping out of one. – Gary Goldstein, Los Angeles Times, Nov 7, 2014

Rotten: The gimmick plays well from a technical standpoint, but the story requires a suspension of disbelief that only genre diehards are likely to give. – John DeFore, Hollywood Reporter, Nov 3, 2014

Brilliant Thriller!

I’m not a docu style film fan (AKA Blair Witch etc), with the exception of Diary Of The Dead. This film is an amazing thriller, with the narrative and story done in such an original way. I do think that some scenes could have had some sort of Establishment shots, as the hotel scenes, but given the style of the film, I can understand why it wasn’t done. Not for fast food Protopeds, whose full reviews contain a single sentence. Like (This movie sucked, without any reason given) This is for Indy film fans and regular film fans searching for something different.

Did not enjoy it

The story line did not make much sense. Some of the technology seemed cheap and fake. Felt painful watching the whole thing. Would not recommend it.

Way better than I thought it would be!

This probably isn't really a 5 star movie, but it exceeded my extremely low expectations by leaps and bounds. It did get a little boring at some parts. However, the ending totally redeemed it. It's really clever! I recommend getting this.
