About the Movie
Academy Award and Golden Globe-nominee Matt Dillon ("Crash," "There's Something About Mary") stars in this updated "Rebel Without a Cause" tale about teenagers in an affluent middle-American suburb where everything should be right, but isn't. The New York Times said it is "one of the year's best" and The Village Voice called it "dynamic, well directed, and acutely observed." Leonard Maltin sums it up as "powerful.... A winner!" Directed by Emmy-winner Jonathan Kaplan ("The Accused") with a soundtrack featuring music by Cheap Trick, The Cars, The Ramones and Van Halen.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: It's to Mr. Kaplan's credit that he makes New Granada look just as boring and alienating to us as it does to the unfortunate children who live there.
Fresh: Kaplan has a fine feel for the crushing blandness of "planned communities"-the anger that possesses his underage heroes proceeds from a physically oppressive emptiness, represented by rows of hollow town houses and vast, blasted fields.
Fresh: Script, photography and performances (including Dillon before he decided to become a teenage Stallone) are all top notch, while Kaplan directs with pace, imagination, and a fine ear for dialogue and music.
Fresh: Kaplan's film is a real treat - fair, cool, disturbing and graced by naturalistic performances from its vibrant young cast.

Love the music
Though the movie is obviously dated now, filmed in the late 70s, it is still a film worth seeing at least once in your lifetime.
The film was shot all over the city of Aurora Colorado as well as some areas of Cherry Creek. You can even see the old airport tunnels in part when they are in the car traveling down I-70.
I went to school with one of the kids who has a background scene here and there, the tall kid with the bandana and the Led Zep T-shirt (Doug M). I still remember when he stood up in class to tell us about how he was in the movie and how they used real joints and didn't tell the producer.
I recommend this and it's only $4.99 now!
