Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The problems with "Paradise," Diablo Cody's first directing effort and fourth produced screenplay, begin almost immediately ...
Rotten: Cody has concocted a modern-day "Alice Through the Looking Glass," with none of the danger or wit.
Rotten: Neither train wreck nor triumph, it's proof that the author of "Juno," "Jennifer's Body" and "Young Adult" retains an ear for pungently funny turns of phrase and intriguing blends of rage and forgiveness.
Rotten: Cody's directorial debut will not leave you wanting more.
I had my doubts when i first started watching. Russell this is the best i've seen you in. The girl who played the lead, you rock!!!!! I guess you may have to be at an age or a part of your life to fully grasp the concept and the meaning of the movie. So many movies are just plain raunchy, maybe i would of liked them in my younger years, maybe not> I guess the best way to decsribe the movie is no matter the age, the color of your skin, your looks, it,s about growing up in a world that that's scary, and recognizing that we are all basically flawed humans that have been in their own hell. Some people grow spiritually and i think that's a necessity im my opinion.Tired of the bar scene, sick of being told church is the only way,you meet people who are alittle older and wiser.Through my own hell i had yo find out for myself paradise is all around, you just have to be able to see it.
