About the Movie

Rock superstar Mick Jagger stars in a stunning reality/fantasy trip set in London's underworld. A criminal hides out at the residence of a bizarre rock star (Jagger) and his mysterious and beautiful companion (Anita Pallenberg, "Barbarella"). A gripping, psychological melodrama and cult favorite, with a fabulous soundtrack by Jack Nitzsche ("The Exorcist," "Stand By Me"), under the direction of Academy Award-winner Randy Newman ("Monsters Inc."), and of course the Stones.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Pop stars continue to have bad luck in films. – Jay Cocks, TIME Magazine, Mar 25, 2013

Fresh: With a pleasurably peculiar cast of James Fox, Mick Jagger and Anita Pallenberg, Performance is one of the weirdest slices of Seventies London around, combining gangster violence and ritual humiliation with decaying rock-star glamour. – Kate Muir, Times (UK), Jul 23, 2015

Fresh: A memorable film that is still regarded as a psychedelic classic. – Kim Newman, Empire Magazine, Mar 25, 2013

Fresh: Roeg's debut as a director is a virtuoso juggling act which manipulates its visual and verbal imagery so cunningly that the borderline between reality and fantasy is gradually eliminated. – Tom Milne, Time Out, Mar 25, 2013
