Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The problem of Stewart's performance is indicative of Assayas's broader weaknesses as a director. In "Personal Shopper," his subject is intimacy and sensuality, but the film offers neither. – Richard Brody, New Yorker, Mar 20, 2017

Fresh: What's the point of "Personal Shopper"? Perhaps simply being in the presence of an uncertain young woman played by a luminous young performer as she fully comes into her own. – Ty Burr, Boston Globe, Mar 23, 2017

Fresh: I can't explain everything I saw in this film, but I was entertained and enthralled by every second of it. – Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times, Mar 16, 2017

Fresh: The production is in equal parts mesmerizing and perplexing, intriguing and frustrating. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Mar 24, 2017

Smart, moving, scary and KStew sizzles

Heard a lot of great things about this Assayas joint and have to say I wasn't disappointed. Won't spoil anything but the combination of a great director, a smart script, haute couture, ghosts (?) and an amazing Kristen Stewart (her best performance yet) made this a great watch

Totally original - has to be seen to be believed. If you're looking for an antidote to the same old blockbusters out right now, check this out.

Incredible leap for Stewart's career

Kristen Stewart truly shines and demonstrates a spectacular sign of maturity. Personal Shopper delivers in a mesmerizing way, even if it is uniquely haunting at times. Psychological dramas in the future should take notes from this abstract, enthralling piece of art.
