About the Movie

From Disney and Producer Jerry Bruckheimer comes all the fun, epic adventure and humor that ignited the original. Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. A tale of truth, betrayal, youth, demise — and mermaids! When Jack crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), he's not sure if it's love, or if she's a ruthless con artist using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. Forced aboard the ship of the most feared pirate ever, Jack doesn't know who to fear more —Blackbeard (Ian McShane) or the woman from his past. Directed by Rob Marshall, it's filled with eye-popping battle scenes, mystery and all-out wit.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Marshall deserves props for putting the "show" back into the Pirates business. But face it, he's polishing a giant turd. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, May 20, 2011

Rotten: The more sequels spun off, the clearer it becomes that one movie about these swashbucklers would have sufficed. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, May 20, 2011

Rotten: Small kids won't really appreciate Johnny Depp either, though frankly he's getting to be less fun as the series ages, possibly realizing that what's riskiest in Pirates 4 isn't walking the plank, but jumping the shark. – Bob Mondello, NPR, May 20, 2011

Rotten: Depp, grimacing, edges in and out of the action and seems irrelevant and bored most of the time. – David Denby, New Yorker, May 23, 2011

Ok

Honestly the only one part of the movie that I loved. I wanted to sleep through the film.

Want the truth?

There's a lot of discussion on this movie. Some hate it...some love it....others are just not sure of it. I am the biggest Pirates fan out there. Without Orlando, Keira, and the other original cast, Rob Marshall had a lot riding on him. He gave it his best, and he deserves a pat on the back for it.

The movie itself is not that bad. There is a lot more humor. Ian McShane did a fantastic job, probably the best Blackbeard you will ever see. Penelope Cruz played a wonderful Angelica. Johnny Depp is the same old Jack Sparrow, that will never change. The best sword fighting is seen in this movie. It is truly amazing.

I was a little disappointed. Just a little. The plot was too predictable, unlike the other Pirates moves. The idea of the mermaids was great, but the zombies? I just wish they would have put more emphasis on them. Because as they are now in the story, they're pretty much useless. Nothing special.

All in all, if you are a huge Pirates fan like myself, you should see this movie. There is not a guarantee that you will fall in love with it, or absolutely hate it. It is all on preference. And honestly, I liked it.

FUN FACT: Did you know....they've already signed on for a 5th and 6th Pirates? Lets watch and wait to see how it turns out...maybe Rob Marshall will have learned a few tips by then.

Couldn't ask for more

This movie is one of the best of all time. As great as the original. I saw it in the theater and I was hooked the entire time. At worlds end and dead mans chest can't compare to on stranger tides. I loved it and I can't wait to buy the combo chest when it comes out
