About the Movie

When aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, they attack the Earth, using the games like PAC-MAN, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Centipede and Space Invaders as models for their various assaults. President Will Cooper (Kevin James) has to call on his childhood best friend, ’80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler) to lead a team of old-school arcaders (Peter Dinklage and Josh Gad) to defeat the aliens and save the planet.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Pixels is devoid of cynicism and it has a cheerfully cheesy vibe, and it's the kind of movie you'll forget about a week after seeing it. – Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times, Aug 14, 2015

Rotten: This is a film in which a viewer can be forgiven for rooting for the old video game icons to annihilate humanity. God help us if the best savior we can muster is Sandler. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Jul 26, 2015

Rotten: Nostalgia is a wonder and a cheat. The right touchstone can make the most discerning movie-goer forgive a film as lazy as Pixels. Almost. – Lisa Kennedy, Denver Post, Jul 30, 2015

Rotten: Welcome to the End of the World, Adam Sandler-style. – Adam Graham, Detroit News, Jul 28, 2015

Customer Reviews

Confused

This movie was so funny and it was just fabulous but I find many negative reviews and low ratings I truly enjoyed the movie + the cast 😒

Great!

If you played video games at the mall arcade in the 80’s, you will probably enjoy it!

Terrible

Lazy acting, lame "jokes" that aren't funny, tons of plot holes, unlikable and annoying characters. Not to mention sexist I mean they literally receive a woman as a trophy. People actually find this garbage funny?Sorry but no one in their right mind would vote to have a Kevin James type person as president.
