About the Movie
Chris Taylor is a young, naive American who, upon his arrival in Vietnam, quickly discovers that he must do battle not only with the Viet Cong, but also with the gnawing fear, physical exhaustion and intense anger growing within him. While his two commanding officers draw a fine line between the war they wage against the enemy and the one they fight with each other, the conflict, chaos and hatred permeate Taylor, suffocating his realities and numbing his feelings to man's highest value... life.

Truly Deserving of Best Picture
A mighty and masterful movie which fully and accurately depicts the horrors and dehuminization of the soldiers in it. A truly honest and powerful force, this is an epic movie. The actors are also at thier best in this one as well!

the acting is great.willem dafoe really makes the movie realistic.the best war movie ever made,and also one the 1986 Academy Award for best picture.the closing battle scene is amazing

Look no further if you want to see a real war film. Oliver Stone created a masterpiece with a star-studded cast including Charlie Sheen, Willem Dafoe, Tom Berenger, Forest Whitaker, Keith David, Johnny Depp, and a cameo by the director himself. Nominated for 8 Oscars and winner of 4, including best director and best film of 1986, Platoon is sure to satisfy or shock anyone who ever wonders of what war really is like on the frontlines. Buy this film! It's awesome and frightening at the same time. Platoon is the best war film that iTunes has so far, unless they get a hold of Full Metal Jacket.
