About the Movie
An odd couple of sorts, introspective and stern Alvin (Rudd) and his girlfriend’s brother, Lance (Hirsch), dopey and insecure, leave the city behind to spend the summer of 1988 repainting the traffic lines on a desolate country highway where the surrounding areas have been ravaged by wildfire. In this solitary backdrop, the two bicker and joke with each other as they reflect on their relationships with women, resulting in a clumsy fall head first into an unlikely friendship.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Rudd, in particular, gives it everything he's got, but he is vanquished by a story that feels both inconsequential and contrived.
Fresh: It's an actors' showcase. But Green films it with real feeling and an eye for parts of the Lone Star State that, as we can see, are no longer.
Fresh: The performances and ghostly, melancholic atmosphere make it satisfying twist on the male buddy film.
Fresh: Mr. Green has managed to turn a story about two road workers doing road work into something compelling.
Really loved this
One of the most beautiful films you'll see all year, Prince Avalanche is a delight from beginning to end. With a gorgeous setting and wonderfully written characters, this really feels like something special.
Art not entertainment.
The title sums it up. You pick your preference. It is not bad but it is not entertainment.
All that I have been hoping for.
