Plot Summary

A very loose remake of the classic multi-star comedy It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (1963), this madcap comedy is directed by Jerry Zucker, one third of the Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker comedy team and director of Ghost (1990). John Cleese stars as an eccentric casino owner who devises a contest pitting six teams against each other in a race to claim two million dollars from a locker in New Mexico. The competitors are Owen (Cuba Gooding Jr., who ends up driving a bus full of Lucille Ball imitators, a foreigner (Rowan Atkinson) who hitches a ride in an organ donor vehicle, and a recently reunited mother and daughter (Whoopi Goldberg and Lanei Chapman) who anger a "squirrel lady" (Kathy Bates) — much to their regret. There are also two con artist brothers (Seth Green and Vince Vieluf), the upright Nick (Breckin Meyer), who gets a lift from cute but psychotic pilot Tracy (Amy Smart), and the eccentric Pear family, headed up by Jon Lovitz. Rat Race also stars Dave Thomas, Kathy Najimy, Wayne Knight, Dean Cain, and Paul Rodriguez.

The Best Movie Ever!!! I've Seen it 18 times in counting!!!!!

This is my top favorite movie. There isn't one scene where you won't laugh. Scary enough, I have seen this movie 18 times. (Yes, I have kept count.) The best scene in the movie is when Jon Lovits's family is driving in the WWII vehicle. I was laughing so hard that I had to play the scene again jsut to hear what they were saying. This isn't just a movie where the theme is funny. This is a movie that will always keep you laughing. I highly reccomend this movie and give it 500 stars and 200 thumbs up!

This movie is alsome. It is sooo funny. You have some of the funniest acters in here. It has a great storyline! Great characters. Great EVERYTHING! BUY THIS MOVIE!

A Nonstop Laugh Riot!

Bringing together so many of today's biggest stars for one movie is one thing, but putting each and every one of them into such a zany madcap race is what makes Rat Race such a smash. Through a series of impossibly convenient (or inconvient as the case may often be) coincidences, our hapless heroes race from Las Vegas, NV, to Silver Springs, NM, to see who can reach their $2 million prize first. The joke's on the racers, however, when Vegas' biggest spenders are in fact betting on them for a much larger prize. As each contender begs, borrows, and steals their way to Silver City, they each come across some rather sticky and hilarious situations – and they each have to find their own equally hilarious way out of them. At the end, the movie concludes with a heartwarming ending, and the Vegas men get what's coming to them. In addition to the all-star cast, there are quite a few cameos along the way. Keep an eye out for familiar faces! John Cleese and Rowan Atkinson are a rare treat and their parts of the story are especially hilarious. A great silly movie for a rainy day, highly recommended!
